  To get there, start in the main square - the Plaza Mayor. From the end with the arches, walk along a little street parallel to but at a lower level than the square. Continue along here, ignoring all side streets. Suddenly, as streets are apt to do in Cuenca, it turns into steps going down. This is called the Bajada de las Angustias - the Downward path of Anguish. Having done it in both directions, I can tell you that it's the Upward path that has all the anguish!

  Soon you come on the left to a church and then straight ahead, across a little open space, you see the little chapel. It has a sign outside saying Ermita de las Angustias, 17th century.

  A little out of the way, but it is well worth exploring the streets to find this little gem of a chapel down by the river. And once you've found it, you are at the start of one of the riverside walks, so you've killed two birds with one stone!
