  Take your time to walk around the city. I will recommend at least 2 two hours walks around the city, and just follow the labyrinthine streets. You will find other views, other statues, from each side of the hill, and always have a chance to take a picture. We were in winter and did the walk in the evening until/after sunset. We had fantastic views from the top of the city looking west.

  Or park park on the top of the hill, to the east of the city, near Mirador Barrio del Castillo, public free parking, and walk to the city from there.

  Cuenca in general is a lovely city, and I would highly recommend taking the time to visit. Beautiful architecture and quite quiet, tourists but not crowds.

  Nice, but had expected to find a bit more hanging houses than there were. There is also a bridge opposit the hanging houses that is quite fun to walk over.

  The rating is more for the town and it's natural beauty than the actual houses. The houses are built along the cliff face rather than actually hanging. Either way it is impressive but when compared to the surroundings I found that I spent more time admiring the rest of the city with its many hills and winding streets than the actual houses. Definitely needed more time to explore the many alleyways.

  Lovely place to go on a mini-break. Lot's of interesting art exhibitions on top of much nature and great architecture.

  Cuenca is roughly 2 hours of nice diving from Madrid. I will highly recommend to go there at least for a 2 days trip. The old Cuenca is at the top, around a hill, where two rivers join. The hanging houses are the type of house hanging from a hill, built up. We didn't visited the interior of one, but you can imagine that houses that your daily life there means taking a stair up or down all the time: from the bedroom to the bath, to the kitchen, to the living, back to the bedroom.

  You can start your walk from a public parking down the slope (paid), in front of the Teatro Auditorio Cuenca, walk towards the Puente de San Pablo and then head west and down to Torre de Mangana.
