  I will start off by saying that we, by mistake, sat down to eat in the bar area, which was a bit cramped and very noisy. We discovered afterwards that there is a restaurant dining room upstairs. We'll know next time!

  Then came the first courses. From the long list I chose grilled vegetables, thinking that it would be a light starter. Hahaha. A great piled-high plateful came, and it had ham in it too. I am not vegetarian so I was happy with this, but a vegetarian might not have liked that. Curiously, my goat's cheese salad in the parador also had, unannounced, ham in it. My husband had peppers stuffed with cod in a pepper sauce.

  The main course then came - a great helping of lamb stew with fried potatoes, an enormous 1/4 chicken, seemed like a turkey leg, again with a great pile of crispy fried potatoes. Bread of course, and the drinks included in the price. I couldn't managed to eat everything, although I stumbled through the icecream that I chose for my pud.

  With my menu I got 1 Centro Mesa. A normal plate with lettuce, tomato, potato, olives and tuna. A meal in itself. The expensive menu (there was actually an even pricier one - goodness knows what that gave you) brought 2 Centro Mesa dishes. A small plate of Migas - that's breadcrumbs with chorizo, and a plate of cheese. 6 slices of one sort, 6 slices of another sort, and a little bowl with cubes of a third sort.

  The bar also has outside seating in the square, next to the Archway in the Plaza Mayor. We had, on another occasion, very nice and cheap fresh orange juice/beers with free tapas of crisps for just €2 each.
